Adelphi Portrush Flies High
Adelphi Portrush was the official headquarters for the 6th Portrush International Airshow organisers and Pilots. After a year of organising, and months of fine tuning the event by the Civil Aviation Authority, who had their most senior safety officer and his deputy in attendance.
One of the conference rooms at the Adelphi became a dedicated pilots briefing room, with up to the minute meteoroligical reports streaming in. In excess of thirty pilots met every morning to hear the latest running order, synchromise watches and discuss that day's display. The morning briefings were chaired by the experienced flying conrtrol committee, who remained calm even with the pressure of knowing that senior CAA officials were sitting in on the briefings.
Each evening after the show, all the pilots and crew flocked to fill the Adelphi Bistro, where a superb banquet was laid on. Geoff Brownhut, the show organiser, commented "The weekend was a huge sucess, with glowing reports from all the pilots about the hospitality, superb quality accommodation, food and personal service provided. The pilots have informed us that they would definately like to return next year!".
Adelphi Sponsors Local Charity
Adelphi Portrush was the main sponsor for the NI Miscarriage Asscociation's local Fun Run. This took place from Christie Memorial School on Saturday 29th September 2007 in Coleraine. This fun run is one of their most profitable events.
